Olympics, Andrea Bocelli will perform at the opening ceremony: "It will enhance the Games' identity."

The singer, with Mariah Carey, Laura Pausini, Pierfrancesco Favino and Sabrina Impacciatore, will participate in the inaugural event of Milano Cortina at San Siro

The list of guests who will perform during the opening ceremony of the Milano Cortina Olympics on February 6 at San Siro is growing. Mariah Carey, Laura Pausini, Sabrina Impacciatore, and Pierfrancesco Favino are joined by internationally renowned opera singer Andrea Bocelli. In addition to his great return to the Olympic world after participating in the Closing Ceremony, of the 2006 Winter Games in Turin, as explained by the Milano Cortina Foundation, also represents "an opportunity to tell the story of the Games through our Italian musical heritage, known and appreciated throughout the world."

Bocelli's voice will significantly contribute to the ceremony's underlying theme, Harmony, which will inspire his performance. "It will enhance the identity of the Winter Games, lending a contemporary yet global tone," the foundation continues.

The ceremony will be held at the Meazza Stadium in San Siro and will be directed by Marco Balich of Balich Wonder Studio, artistic director of the last 16 Olympic ceremonies. The narration accompanying the performances will be that of Matilda De Angelis, winner of the 2021 David di Donatello Award.

The iconic nature of the Olympic opening will be maintained by the traditional parade of sports delegations at the lighting of the cauldron at the Arco della Pace, with the Flame reaching Milan on January 5th. The Foundation also specified that the inauguration will aim to actively involve athletes and local communities in a widespread celebration thanks to various initiatives in the Olympic territories of Predazzo, Livigno, and Cortina d'Ampezzo, where the second brazier will be lit simultaneously in Piazza Dibona, in the heart of the mountain resort.
