Woman saved after being molested on a train by asking for help using the YouPol app: man stopped by police

Voghera (Pavia), geolocation allowed the operations center to dispatch officers aboard the train traveling from Milan to Livorno.

Thanks to the YouPol app, a woman was able to raise the alarm and save herself from harassment she was receiving during a train journey. The incident occurred near Voghera, in the province of Pavia, on an Intercity train departing from Milan and headed to Livorno.

During the journey, the girl was harassed by a man who approached her and made sexually explicit gestures. Without directly exposing herself and avoiding attracting the attacker's attention, the victim was able to seek help through the YouPol app, created in 2017 to report incidents of bullying, drug dealing, and domestic violence. The service has only been active on trains for a few months now, ensuring passenger safety.

The victim's report reached the Milan Police Operations Center in real time, allowing railway police officers to intervene quickly. Thanks to the geolocation feature, the call for help was immediately located along the train's route. The Voghera railway police officers intervened on board before the situation deteriorated further, allowing the woman to continue her journey safely. The man responsible for the harassment was identified and immediately removed from the train.

In 2025, YouPol recorded 46,877 requests for help from the app, with 125,000 active users, confirming its role as a tool that allows the police to intervene promptly in dangerous situations.
